Are you interested in improving your skills around knowledge management, working with others, and tackling complex development challenges in a structured, responsive, and sustainable way?

We at Headlight are thrilled to announce our first offering of Fundamentals of CLA, a course designed for beginners looking for an introduction, intermediate practitioners looking to solidify the basics, and everyone in between!

This blog provides a little more background on the upcoming course (EDIT: registration has closed! We’ll look forward to seeing you next time), and be sure to check back in early 2022 for our blog mini-series drawing on Headlight’s more than 40 cumulative years of experience with CLA and M&E practices and approaches.

So, what is this course like?

Headlight Consulting Services has a wealth of information about Collaborating, Learning and Adapting (CLA)—USAID’s approach to organizational learning and adaptive management—and we can’t wait to spark conversation and see how you will put these approaches to use! This virtual course is designed to introduce participants to the CLA framework and provide inspiration, tools and approaches to integrate CLA practices into ongoing work. Led by Monica Matts, Headlight’s Director of Strategic Learning, in this course learn how CLA is relevant and actionable for development professionals of all types.

As a participant, you will take part in three collaborative and engaging half-day sessions. You will learn from real-world examples and your peers and understand how CLA can support and enhance your work in practical ways.

Who should attend?

This course is designed to introduce and solidify the fundamentals of CLA for international development professionals, including staff from headquarters, field offices, local organizations, and in support or technical roles. In short, if you are interested in the basics of CLA, this course is for you!

What will I learn?

By the end of the training, attendees will:

  • Understand the components and subcomponents of the CLA Framework, and how they fit together to support better development results
  • Identify opportunities for using CLA approaches in the context where they work
  • Know where to find resources, tools, and support to integrate CLA approaches on an ongoing basis

When is this training happening?

Training dates: Monday 1/31/2022-Wednesday 2/2/2022,

  • 3 half-day sessions (8:30-11:30 AM EST) conducted virtually
  • Asynchronous assignments to support learning in the live sessions
  • One-time cost for our initial offering: USD 550
